From 2010 – 2016, I was privileged to serve as the pastor for the congregation of the historic Atlanta First United Methodist Church located just on the border between midtown and downtown Atlanta. One of the many blessings during my time there was to get to know the ministry of the Midtown Assistance Center.
Through MAC, a dedicated group of staff and volunteers assist the working poor who find themselves in a financial crisis. This assistance is primarily in four areas: rent and utility assistance, grocery assistance, clothing assistance and transportation assistance (through MARTA). I watched daily the difference MAC makes in the lives of those who need it most.
As we gather on-location this Sunday, we are asking those who will be joining us to bring items for the food pantry at MAC.
As we gather on-location this Sunday, we are asking those who will be joining us to bring items for the food pantry at MAC. Below is a list of the items for which they receive the most requests. If you are unable to join us on-location, you can make a contribution on our website (select “missions” fund on the “Give” page). Those contributions will be used to purchase items to supplement what is collected.
We look forward to seeing as many as possible on location Sunday morning! We will be streaming for those who cannot be there in person.
